This course encourages participants to think more specifically about the goals of their teaching in terms of how students will learn the information presented. This involves thinking about teaching style as well as content. It provides participants with specific suggestions regarding how their teaching styles are perceived by others. It also provides an opportunity to observe and evaluate other styles of teaching and to learn how to share observations constructively with others.

This course is compulsory and offered in Semester VI. There are four prerequisites courses for KPE 368 Micro Teaching, i.e. Approaches, Methods and Techniques, Curriculum and Materials Development, Language Learning Assessment and Instructional Design.

This is a two credit course with four contact hours. The students will be expected to be in class for the 4 hours each week and spend at least 4 hours in preparation on the course per week on their own. This is the course where they have to integrate the theoretical review and foundation of ELT methods, ELT teaching strategies, and instructional and material design. They also have to be knowledgeable and competent in the English language. In the first meeting we discussed the characteristics of good teachers. What makes good teachers? What are the characteristics of good teachers? The answers may vary, but based on our discussion, the teacher shoudl master the subject they teach and be able to teach it. Teaching here means engaging their students in the learning process and making sure that the students themselves are the one who is responsible for their own learning. The teachers then, when they prepare the lessons, should ask this question, “How should the students learn the subject?” and not “How should I teach this?” If they prepare their lessons starting with former questions, they then will be able to engage their students in the learning process.
